Jeremy and I headed up after work to Payson Lakes. We decided to take Hally and Daisy. It was so beautiful up there. Since we left home around 7:00 we didn't get up there until about 8:30. There was quite a few people from our ward, not enough to fill both camp sites, however it was still fun. As we got there the Smith's ended up cooking enough dinner for everyone that was up there.
All the kids were running around pretending there was a bear in the trees you then heard someone growl load pretending they were the bear. As I was watching the kids run around I starting remembering when I was younger my mom's family (The Hone's) we did I think 3 to 4 years of camping trips, they all would usually follow our cow round up trip. We would load up the wives, kids and food in the school bus my grandpa bought and the men would drive the trucks with the horse trailers attached. We would drive to the middle of no where, get everyone ready (load up the horses with the food and men) as the women got to walk with all the kids.
One year in particular (I think it was our first camping trip) the women and the children got lost, while the men were way a head trying to find a good camping spot. Later did we find out that our wild Uncle Terry was riding a not so bright horse that ended up putting Uncle Terry and my cousin Westing in the lake, which they almost drowned if it hadn't of been for my other Uncle Bret and we wouldn't have been able to watch this crazy episode if it hadn't of been for my Uncle Randy. Later in the video you would watch Weston sitting in front of a fire with a blanket around his shoulders swatting at flies.
Those were the best years of camping. However I think as you get older it seems like a lot of work and most of the time you don't want to smell like a camp fire.
The next morning the Activities Committee got up and made a wonderful breakfast. Pancakes, Sausage, muffins, and biskets.
Of course this reminded me of the Hone camping trips where all the women would get up and get ready to make breakfast, however they would need thier wake up juice (Pepsi). However one time they couldn't any. They started questioning on if they packed it at all. Well like I said before, if it hadn't of been for my Uncle Randy we would never have got any of the priceless footage on tape. So there was Randy up by the lake (that almost sucked in Terry and Weston) and he was video tapping the scenery, when all of a sudden here comes sneaking around by my grandpa. We looks around making sure no one is watching him and he walks over to the edge of the lake and what do you know, pulls out a Pepsi. Soon after that we walks over to the snowbank that is by the lake, walks to a particular area, all of a sudden, dig, dig, dig, pulls out a pepsi. After grandpa gets what he is looking for he walks down to the group of women and tells them that there is gold in these hills and asks "do you want to see the gold?" He then shows them the pepsi.
So here are pictures, the first of most of everyone there, second getting ready to make breakfast, and the third cooking breakfast.
Since we brought Hally and Daisy we were the popular ones, however all the kids then started asking their parents on if they could get a dog.
In the first picture you have Daisy and Hally, Second Daisy and Hally, Lindon Elmer, Lilly Wheeler and Amy Thompson, Third Everyone who was in the second picture just add John Elmer Lindon's dad.
Finally Daisy, being upset that we had to go home. Just kidding, Jeremy started teasing her and I was trying to get a picture of her and her pearly whites, but I got this picture instead.
Last but not least before we went home we decided to stop by the lake and check it out, it is way awesome and big, we should definetly plan a family outing and go up there.
The first and second pictures are part of the lake, however there were tons of people there with canoe's, rafts, and floating devises, the third picture is a trail that we walked that goes around the lake, it is a really nice walk a lot of areas to go fishing, and last is a picture of some ducks.
All in all we had a really fun time and we are excited for next year. We are hoping that they will do a Thursday to Saturday time though so we have spend more time up there.
