You Never Know...

So I was asked by my manager to go with her to a ChamberWest luncheon at the Olympic Oval. The guest speaker Derek Parra. For any of you who don't know who he is he one a Silver Medal for the Men's 500 meter and a Gold Medal for the Men's 1500 meter and set a record. He did this when the olympics were here in 2002.

As he was speaking Apolo Ono walked by. It was really cool. You never know who you will see.
Anyway Derek spoke about his life, the challenges he had to go through to make it big, and how hard it was to get to the Olympics. It was a really good day and I am glad that I was invited by my manager to go and have the opportunity to hear from someone who had a dream and wanted something so bad and how hard he had to fight for it.

I had the opportunity to meet Derek and have him train me and the rest of the Classic Speed Skating Team for a week probably about 14 years ago (before he made the transition to Ice.) He is an amazing person and one of the nicest people I've ever met. I'm glad you had that opportunity.

That is so cool! How come I never run into any celebs? Steve has seen Andre Kirilinko ( from the Jazz), Dan Evans ( fox news, and super cute, I might add) and a lot of other people from the Jazz. I miss all the good stuff. Lucky you.
