Family Reunions

So I think sometimes when the family starts planning family reunions, people in the family start to wonder "is it going to be any fun?" Well last year (I can't believe it will have been a year ago) any way last year at the end of July My Moms family decided to get together and do a family reunion since the last one that we did was... well I can't even remember. So they all worked really hard and what we did was a mock version of the Amazing Race. There are 6 kids in my moms family and each of them were Team Captains. They then took all the nieces, nephews, and in laws names and drew them out of a hat. So there ended up being abotu 8 to 9 people on a team.

We started in Mackay, Idaho where both my grandparents lived and we raced between Mackay and Arco trying to figure our clues and do tasks to get the next clue.

In Mackay we started at my grandparents gravesite and they had to run and grab the first clue which was - What TV show did grandpa get up and watch in the morning - no brainer there - Price is Right - From there we had to go into town (which this town only had one grocery store and two gas stations) you have 6 teams running to the nearest place they could, we had to find groceries that equaled like $12.36 I don't think Mackay knew what hit them. After we found the groceries - which my cousin figured out for his team that two packs of beer ended up equaling that amount. From there we then had to do a Pepsi chug which Jeremy was our volunteer and the sad thing is we couldn't find any cold cans so he had to drink it warm - lets just say he had a very bad belly ache the rest of the day.

The next day we started in Snake River and worked our through Pingree and Blackfoot doing the same thing. The funniest part about the second day is our team (which we ended up last the day before) we were on a really good start until we had to go to a relatives house and dip chocolates. We were a head of everyone else until we headed to the car and my mom realizes that she doesn't have the keys. I start asking her are they in your pockets she says she doesn't have pockets - are they in the house - so she goes in the house and starts looking around - she starts asking everyone if they have seen the keys. Teams are finishing their chocolate dipping and moving onto the next clue - mom starts wondering if Don and her brother Terry took the keys so Jeremy gets in the way of their pick up while mom grabs on to the side of the car - Terry starts moving Jeremy with the Truck and they told mom they didn't have the keys - finally mom finds the keys and we ask her where they were and she said "They were in my pocket"

The day was fun and ended with everyone meeting at my great grandma's grave. Although we were all tired some of us still had some energy to play Red Rover Red Rover . I can't wait for the next reunion.
