On the Way we stopped in Elko for some McDonalds, to bounce around get some wiggles out and then continue on our journey. As we continued on our journey we came upon a truck hauling a helicopter. Since I haven't seen that before I quickly took a snapshot.
As we arrived to our hotel the kids were a little restless and decided to jump across the two beds that were in the room. We also had to take pictures of their new toys they got in their kids meals to play with.
We arrived to San Francisco on our Anniversary and as we came into the city we stopped by to see Jeremy. He would be getting off work later and so we headed to the hotel for some relaxation. When Jeremy got back we went for a little walk to a little Italian Restaurant for dinner.
It was a cute little restuarant. I think that is my favorite finding little places like this and enjoying the atmosphere they bring. Happy Anniversary to my Hubby. 13 Years and counting and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Saturday Dad and Christine decided to come up and visit. We headed out to the California Academy of Science Museum. It was really cool and neat. You could spend ALL day (no exageration) there and you still wouldn't have seen everything.
We watched the penguins being fed and Dad gave Jack a piggy back ride. After our long adventurous day we headed back to the hotel to meet up with Jeremy and make our way to dinner.
Rested, showered and ready for our next adventure we all piled into the CRV and headed to the CliffHouse for dinner.
The Cliff House sits right on the coast and the scenery is out of this world. The sun setting against the blue skies as the waves crash into the shore. Since it would be an hour wait we decided to walk around a little. Finally our time came to sit down and eat dinner. We ordered a cup of Clam Chowder and their Fish and Chips. It was delicious. As we sat at our table we were able to watch the sun set into the ocean. What a perfect ending to a great day.
Sunday was Jeremy's only day off and so as we ate breakfast with Dad and Christine we said our goodbye's and started on our jammed packed journey. We started by driving downtown and heading to Alcatraz. Picking up our tickets, waiting in line to catch the ferry out to the island, while the mist gently fell toward the ground.
As we toured the island it was overcast and you really couldn't see the main land until near the end of us hanging out. The fog started to lift a little. We walked the grounds then made our way to the cell house for the audio tour. Quite an amazing place and history behind it.
After our three hour tour we headed back on a ferry and decided to have lunch at Pier 23. While the kids and I were hanging out in the room waititng for Jeremy an episode of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives was on and it was about Pier 23, so why not.
Pier 23 is known for mainly sitting outside in the back, but since the weather was a mist shower we sat inside and still enjoyed some nice cuisine.
After lunch we hopped a bike richshaw and headed down toward Fisherman's Warf.
We didn't make it to the famous Fisherman's Warf sign that is on display in the square, but we managed to make it over the the arcade pier. That was interesting seeing all of the old arcade games and it was really busy with people. The kids got to play wacka mole and Mrs Packman.
After our arcade gaming we started our walk toward Pier 39.
We didn't make it down the pier more walked acrossed it to head to the car, since it started to get late. We made it to the car and headed for a drive across the golden gate bridge. Unfortunately it was too foggy that you couldn't see anything.
We had to get off at the Sausalito exit to get gas or we would start to hitch hike. That little town is beautiful and reminded me a lot of Cambria. Next time we would need to tour that little town. We made our way back across the bridge and found the famous Lombard Street.
As we made our way to the "Crookedest" street in the world we came upon the intersection Larkin and Lombard. Had to take a picture. We wound our way down amongst the other cars and pedestrians. We then made our way back to the hotel where as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out.
The kids and I said our goodbye's and headed home the next morning. Such a fun, busy, jampacked, tiring trip - but it was worth it.
A San Francisco treat and a fun Anniversary Weekend.
