New Years Eve 2011

Sine Grandma and Granpa Hone have passed the Hone family still gets together each and every year. This year the party was going to be held at Jolene's House (my mom's sister). Jeremy had to work, so Mom, the kids and I loaded up the CRV and headed to Mackay, Idaho.

We were instructed that when we reached the town of Mackay to call Jolene. Not knowing why we did as we were told to then leave a message. As we passed through Mackay and around the damn we came upon the gravel pit so turn off the highway and head down the lane to their house . As we began to head passed the gravel pit we see Landon and Cristy's Car. Not know what is going on we see this...

So we scuttled out of the car, got the kids shoes, coats and blankets on, jumped on the sleigh and headed to house. It was pretty cold with a gentle cold breeze flowing by, but having the sun up helped a lot.

We made it to the house and I stayed on to get back to the car and drive it down to the house. When we made it back to the car the sun had set and it was really cold out - so the kids and I jumped in the car and drve the car back to the house. By the time we made it to the house it was time to help get things set up for dinner.

So between mom and her two sisters they rotate this shindig and it always starts with eating, allowing the little kids to exchange gifts, the adults playing Bunko and and then who wins the pot and what present are exchanged.

Usually I am not a very good player, however this year was different. The main contender is alway Uncle Randy and he did lead off with 2 Naturals and in the end he had 3, but this year there were 6 of us (including him) that had 3 naturals and I was one of them. So we did a play off.

At my table there was Randy, Jamie and myself and at the other table there was Sage, Mike and Tyler. I was at 20 for three or so rounds and Mike was the same at his table and it was really intense when all of a sudden Tyler rolls a natural and wins the whole thing.

Although it is a fun game with this family it is a competitive sport.

After the win and loses we did the white elephant. Feeling down on my luck someone brought these nice king size pillows and so I ended up steeling them from Logan, well then low and behold my own sister in law Brooke steals them from me. How Rude! She almost got my mixing bowls too but I was going to put up a fight for those since we already stole the pillows (which I hope she is completely enjoying).

Most of everyone left except for Jerilyn, Randy, Shantae and Mike, then you had The Zollinger Family and Mom, the Kids (which Abigail had fallen asleep by now) and I. So we stayed up for the big 2012 change.

Jolene lives in the country and you mainly have to have satellite in order to get TV service so we couldn't watch the count down on TV. Uncle Brett gets his iPad and finds the count down, Mom and her sister are ready to drink with the punch that was made for the shindig. We all gather in the kitchen surrounding this iPad when I say "This is how rednecks count down on New Years Eve." My Jolene says "Hey we are high tech." I reply back "Ok this is how High Tech rednecks bring on the new year." After the count down we all yelled Happy New Year, I reached for my phone to call Jeremy and I looked at the clock and it was still 11:59. Lacey and I told everyone it was still 11:59 and so we were high tech late red necks. the time finally changed and we welcomed 2012!
