You Never Know...

So I was asked by my manager to go with her to a ChamberWest luncheon at the Olympic Oval. The guest speaker Derek Parra. For any of you who don't know who he is he one a Silver Medal for the Men's 500 meter and a Gold Medal for the Men's 1500 meter and set a record. He did this when the olympics were here in 2002.

As he was speaking Apolo Ono walked by. It was really cool. You never know who you will see.
Anyway Derek spoke about his life, the challenges he had to go through to make it big, and how hard it was to get to the Olympics. It was a really good day and I am glad that I was invited by my manager to go and have the opportunity to hear from someone who had a dream and wanted something so bad and how hard he had to fight for it.

Neighborhood Clean Up...

So I think that whenever we have our wards put together activites we always seem to be not very excited to do them, especially when it is cleaning up the neighborhood. However today as our ward was cleaning up the school the West Jordan Fire Department showed up.

They had decided to drive around the neighborhood and check things out when they saw our ward clearning up the elementary school. So they stopped and decided to show off the truck. It was really nice of them.

Jason and Tawnie stopped by borrowing some equipment to finish working on the downtown house and while they were here we offered to take Madie and Little Jason. So as we got to the school to start helping pick up garbage the fire department showed up. So we took some pictures of them in the fire truck.
The Firemen decided to then hook up the truck to the fire hydrant at the school and shoot water out of the hose on the top of the truck.

Since it was a hot day all the kids that came to help decided it was time to cool off.

After all it was a fun day and Jeremy and I had some really great helpers.

FME

So the South Family has decided once a month to do Family Home Evening. On June 8th we decided to go down to Temple Square and see the Joseph Smith movie. Everyone was there except for Jacob who was in New Jersey or somewhere in the east states doing military training. Here are some pictures of that nice Sunday afternoon.
