Jack Allen South
The Stork finally arrived and delivered to us a baby boy born Saturday May 16, 2009 at 1:31pm. He weighed in at 7lbs and 3 oz and is 19 inches long.
We were chosen in January by a birth mother. I was at work and our case worker Shannon came into my branch and told me that the reason our pictures would not post to the new LDS Family Services website was because we forgot to sign a form. Reaching for a pen, Shannon put a bag and some papers on my desk. I looked at her and asked, "What is this?" She said, "Look inside te bag." So as I looked through the tissue paper there were two beanies and a can of formula. Emotions running wild I started to cry and as tears were running down my face I asked our case worker, "Have we been chosen?" She said, "Yes."
Jeremy and I decided that we wouldn't tell anyone, except for Justin (since he lives with us) about this. We decided that we would wait until we brought him home from the hospital and then tell our parents, family and friends. So for those of you who know me really well you know how hard this task was going to be for me.
We planned on doing a face to face meeting with our birth mom. In February we met with Cassi our birth mom and everything was perfect. We were asked if Jeremy was ready to be a dad and if he was ready to change diapers, his reply to that question was, "I am the oldest of six children, and my mom used cloth diapers." We were then also asked how we met and the converstaion lasted for a couple of hours from there. After Cassi left, Jeremy mentioned that he felt as if he knew Cassi and our case worker said, "She believes that as we are in the pre-exisitence that we build relationships with spirits and once we build that relationship it can sometime resurface."
On February 25, 2009 I received a call from Cassi and she was wondering if I would go with her to her ultrasound. I was so ecstatic, I made arrangements from work and headed to the hospital. We went into the room and did the ultrasound. We then found out the sex of he baby which would be a BOY. Here are the pictures of the ultrasound. It is an amazing thing to actually see a baby growing inside a pregnant woman.
Here is the bottom of his foot.
We can see you.
So her doctor and the ultrasound tech told us that her due dat would be May 5th would be the day. As May 5th came the doctor told Cassi that he would like to see her go on her own, but if she didn't have him by May 19 he would induce her.
So counting down we go. Finally as we are getting closer to May 19, on Saturday May 16 I decide to run errands and what not. I got ready for the day and needed to change the color of my toe nail polish when my phone rings. McKenna, Cassi's sisterinlaw is on the phone calling me that Cassi is in labor and at the hospital. Apparently she started feeling him move around a lot at about 4:30am and just figured to go back to bed. Then around 6:00 to 6:30, she finally called her brother Adam and told him it was time to go to the hospital. They arrived at the hospital about 7:00 - 7:30 and her water just wouldn't break. So when she was dilated to a 9 they then went in and broke her water.
He was born at 1:31pm and I arrived there about 1:35 - 1:40.
Here is Jack just after being born.
Me and Jack.
Jack and Dad. I think he is going to be a daddy's boy!
What a cute family.
Jack's first bath. He was not a happy camper.
Daddy drying him off.
Grandma and Grandpa South with their 3rd grandson.
We are so blessed to have Jack in our life. His mother placed him for adoption because she wouldn't be able to take care of him. He has two brothers all ready and in the future will be able to meet and hang out with them.
Welcome to our family Jack, we know you will be loved unconditionally!
